Initial Inspection
I started with basic maintenance: clearing out fallen tag blanks, debris, and dust from the machine internals. That did not solve the issue, so I traced the failure point to the transfer path between tag feed and emboss wheel indexing.
Root Cause
The failure came from an optical presence sensor that should confirm tag position before embossing. The sensor was no longer detecting tags, which caused the controller to halt for safety and error out.
Repair Strategy
The machine used several identical sensors, so I swapped in a matching sensor from a non-critical location and restored the damaged original by reseating and gluing its loose crystal element back in place.
Validation and Outcome
